A trip to Bavaria 27.09 – 1.10.2016
From September 27 to October 1, students of Private Junior High School “Amicus” and Melchior Wańkowicz Private High School participated in a trip to Bavaria, organized by Mr Daniel Szeja. The guardians were: Ms Dorota Zelek, Ms Małgorzata Hachuła-Piotrowska and Ms Magdalena Lenczowska.
We arrived to Monachium on Wednesday morning, after spending the whole night in the bus. The first point of interest was BMW Welt, that is, “The World of BMW”, where we viewed the latest models of the famous Bavarian automotive company. Everyone could take a picture in a chosen car or feel like a rally driver while going crazy in virtual reality. After this emotional introduction, we headed for Allianz Arena stadium. We saw the impressive stands, where up to 75 thousand spectators can be seated, and we visited the technical rooms. Students were mostly interested in Robert Lewandowski’s personal locker in the locker room :) To conclude, we could buy some Bayern München souvenirs. Next, we came back to BMW headquarters. That time, we admired the vintage models produced by the company, situated in the museum part. In the afternoon, we went sightseeing. We saw, among others, the New Town Hall with a moving clock which plays music. Finally, we made it to the hotel and had a wonderful dinner.
The following day we visited the fabulous Neuschwanstein castle – the opus magnum of Ludwig II of Bavaria, sometimes called the Swan King. Anybody who was willing to do so, could head for the gates of the castle on foot, though a bit tiring, but beautiful forest path, with a short stop on the Marienbrücke bridge. Inside the castle, we viewed the interior, inspired by medieval Germanic poetry, and we learnt about the misery of the misunderstood king. In the afternoon, we used cable railway to reach the highest peak of the German Alps – Zugspitze.
On the last day of the trip, we arrived to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and visited the famous ski-jump launching pad, where Adam Małysz beat the record in 2001. Next, we arrived to Prien by the lake Chiemsee, from where we travelled to Herreninsel island. The island is famous for the palace constructed by Ludwig II of Bavaria, which is a replica of Versailles. Everyone was impressed by a huge bathtub which can fit up to 60000 litres. Unfortunately, the king himself only spent about 6 days of his life in the castle.
It was the final part of our trip. After spending the whole night in the bus, we arrived to Katowice feeling tired, but very happy.
