An Encounter with Art: Henri Matisse at Tichauer Gallery
We had the honour of hosting an exceptional exhibition dedicated to the work of one of the most important artists of the 20th century – Henri Matisse. This was a unique opportunity to delve into the colourful and revolutionary world of Fauvist painting and his later, iconic paper cut-outs.
The exhibition at Tichauer Gallery was enriched by a fascinating guided tour which transported attendees into the turbulent and incredibly inspiring life of the artist. The event was led by the charismatic Agnieszka Kijas – a respected art critic, experienced writer, and journalist, as well as the author of the phenomenal historical and artistic podcast “Dawno temu w sztuce” (Once Upon a Time in Art).
Ms. Agnieszka Kijas not only introduced us to Matisse's technique and the evolution of his style but also revealed the extraordinary, often unknown, history of his personal struggles and triumphs that had a key influence on his works. We learned why Matisse gave up his legal career for art, and how his later illness and the necessity of creating in a new form (the cut-outs) opened up another chapter of artistic innovation for him.
This event was a true feast for art lovers and an essential point on the cultural map. We sincerely thank Agnieszka Kijas for sharing her immense knowledge and passion!
