Model United Nations in France with our participation!
We are proud to announce the recent trip of three of our students to Chaumont, France, where they took part in the Model United Nations (ChauMUN) event.
Model United Nations are conferences supported by the UN, which are primarily intended to help understand the principles of operation of the UN, how to conduct debates and work on establishing resolutions. Many current politicians, business and arts leaders have participated in Model United Nations. It is worth mentioning that this is not our first participation in MUN. Our students have already participated in a similar conference in Gdańsk, Katowice and Wrocław. This is a kind of return to a beautiful tradition of our students' participation in MUN conferences.
The main theme of the work our students participated in was equal access for girls to education around the world. Adam Przewłocki, Mateusz Banasik and Hanna Oczko represented Thailand, Bangladesh and India, respectively. Our students were key members of the debate, and Adam and Mateusz were two of the three authors of the final resolution. Hanna played a key role in organizing the trip and handled most of the communication with the organizers and all logistical aspects of the trip.
After a long journey from Katowice to Chaumont via Paris, the students arrived late in the evening. We were welcomed in the city by our families, with whom we spent the next 4 nights. On the first day, after the opening ceremony, students were shown around Chaumont by peers from the local school that organized the event. Then they went to the opening of the event, which was truly international, with the participation of students from France, Azerbaijan, Mexico, Germany, Taiwan, the Czech Republic and, of course, Poland. Debates, discussions and negotiations began after discussing the principles and listening to the opening speeches of each delegate. The students concluded their busy second day of negotiations by attending an MUN event at a local high school, where they got to know their fellow delegates better.
The last day began with the presentation of the draft resolution by Adam, Mateusz and the delegate from Germany. After discussions and amendments, the resolution was quickly adopted and the celebrations could begin. Our students left France with new knowledge, skills, and friends.
We couldn't be more proud of how actively they participated in the work of the committee, how they performed and represented our school and country. This event raised awareness of a key issue that is of great importance to humanity.
Well done Hanna, Mateusz and Adam! We believe that this will be the beginning of your active participation in building a better world. Let us mention that information about the event could be seen in the French news and read in the press. This is another reason to be proud.
