Donation for the educational centre in Katowice-Giszowiec
On October 12th, during the celebration of the National Education Day, we donated the money collected during the European People to People International Conference Katowice 2018. The money was raised to support the reconstruction of the burnt educational centre „OREW” in Katowice-Giszowiec. Our Chapter and our High School were represented by the Headmistress, Ms Jolanta Kałuża, and the Coordinator of the High School, Mr Janusz Woźniak.
In „OREW”, young disabled people can find help with basic everyday activities. The amount of money was astounding: 4700PLN (around 1100€). Some was raised during the auctions of hand-made bags, a part of it was donated by Merrill Eisenhower and other participants of the conference, including Ambassador Theodor R. Britton, and some was raised by Ms Małgosia Ochmann and her students. The representative of „OREW” was deeply moved and thanked us for that beautiful gesture, handing us a wonderful piece of art and a thank-you letter.
It is wonderful to help others as it makes the world warmer and puts smiles on people's faces.
