One of the traditions of our high school is an integration trip for Polish Matura and IB DP students. These excursions are significant for a number of reasons. They bring students closer, allow them to familiarize themselves with the new environment; they teach and entertain. This year, our destination was the central part of Czech Republic, where we stayed in a town named Beroun. It gave us a chance to know many important and beautiful places. For instance, we visited Karlštejn castle - exactly when the 700th birthday of one of the most important European rulers is celebrated - Charles IV, the Roman emperor of the Germans and a Czech king, the founder of Charles University in Prague. The picturesque castle and the town itself are really impressive. Thanks to our Czech guide and Mr Janusz's translation, we learnt about the mysteries of the castle and its history. In the afternoon, we wandered through the streets of Prague and had dinner together in a very peculiar restaurant "Smichovsky Radnicni Sklipek". The following day, we visited a family brewery - we learnt the secrets of brewing the Czech national drink. After a decent reception, we burnt calories in one of the Czech solutional caves - Koněpruské jeskyně. We concluded the trip with a wonderful, joyful and tasty supper at Koza Roza in Beroun. Many of the participants regard our trip as one of the best in which they have ever participated - which speaks for itself.
