From May 4th to May 14th, 2017, students from Melchior Wańkowicz Private High School participated in an international exchange as part of the MIGRANT programme. The project is realized as one of the key actions of the European Erasmus+ programme.

Four students (Izabela Wrzeska, Olga Tomanek, Julia Ślusarczyk, and Rafał Gardulski) travelled to Italy, supervised by Ms Izabela Fulara and Mr Grzegorz Machalica. Our team was invited by ISTITUTO ISTRUZIONE SUPERIORE ENRICO FERMI. Along with teams from France, Greece, Turkey, Norway, and the hosts, our delegates had a wonderful time. Although the project is difficult, confronts the life of young people who live in peace and those who face the war, prejudice, terror, everyone found a way and strength to make their experienced peers smile even for a moment and fill their hearts with joy and hope.

Apart from learning about the Italian culture by visiting Rome, Naples, Pompeii, and other beautiful places, the biggest experience for our participants were the visits paid to refugee centres and the Italian headquarters of Amnesty International or Baobab in Rome. Organizations which fight for respecting human rights for every man on Earth impressed the exchange participants.

All groups have already returned to their schools. Now they will share everything that they have experienced and felt with their peers. They will also teach about what can be done to make the world a better place. They have become an example of overcoming barriers and stereotypes, being rich in new intercultural experience.

The next meeting will take place in half a year, in Greece.

The project was subsidized by Erasmus+ European Union programme.
