Lesson in the museum - Witkacy and inspirations
Witkacy's portraits from the former collection of Teodor Białynicki-Birula and works inspired by the artist's work became a reason for students of our high school to visit the Museum of Katowice History. It was not an ordinary visit to the museum, because we saw the exhibition of 50 excellent portraits from Teodor's former collection, drawn by Witkacy not to make money, but for his friends, out of impulses of heart and talent. We were guided by the supervisor of the exhibition, who introduced us to the secrets of the artist's colorful works. It is worth emphasizing that these works, still in private hands, were very rarely shown and reproduced - some never! Participation in museum lessons has already become a tradition for students studying the history of art, history, Polish language in Wańkowicz, and all those for whom art is a passion.
