Pre DP Classes Visit CINiBA: Essential Research Skills for Future IB Students
On May 13th, our Pre DP students went on an educational trip to the Scientific Information Centre and Academic Library (CINiBA) in Katowice. The goal of the visit was to provide future IB students with practical skills in navigating advanced academic resources.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) programme places great emphasis on independent research and the use of reliable, verified sources. The visit to CINiBA was the perfect opportunity to gain these crucial competencies in practice.
What did our students learn?
- Registration and Logistics: Students learned how to sign up and navigate the modern library space efficiently.
- Booking Quiet Study Rooms: They found out how to reserve special zones for individual and group work – an ideal space for focusing on demanding projects.
- Source Retrieval Workshops: CINiBA experts conducted a training session on effective use of academic search engines and catalogs. This knowledge is vital for writing papers like the Extended Essay.
- Silesian Digital Library: Students discovered the resources of the regional digital library, which offers a massive database of unique source materials available online.
The visit proved to be incredibly practical. The knowledge and skills gained will undoubtedly pay off during research paper writing and daily studying in the IB programme. Big thanks to the CINiBA team for the professional workshops!
