Summary of the visit of students from Friedrich-Wilhelm Gymnasium to Katowice
From January 8th to 13th, our high school conducted another edition of the Polish-German student exchange. As part of a long-standing partnership, we hosted a group of students and teachers from the Friedrich-Wilhelm Gymnasium in Cologne. The primary objective of the visit was to implement an educational program and introduce the guests to the history and culture of the region.
The visit began with an official welcome by the school management and integration activities. In the following days, the German students followed an intensive itinerary. They visited the Silesian Centre for Freedom and Solidarity and met with city officials at the Katowice City Hall. A significant point of the visit was the guests' participation in the school's 25th-anniversary celebrations held on January 10th.
The program also included field trips. The students visited Kraków and the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum in Oświęcim, where they participated in a discussion summarizing their visit to the former camp. The final day of the stay was dedicated to joint lessons at our school and a project evaluation. Throughout the exchange, the German guests were accommodated in the private homes of our students, providing them with a direct insight into Polish customs.
The school management wishes to thank all host families for their commitment and for providing care for the exchange participants.
Thank you for coming, for spending time together and for all the new experiences. See you again soon!
