24th WOŚP Final
We aim high!
This year we are going to buy medical equipment for pediatric wards and to provide decent medical care for seniors.
For the twelfth time, Melchior Wańkowicz Private High School hosts the "Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy" charity action. We can't imagine our school life without it.
WOŚP Final is a one-day's money collection organized by the "Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy" Foundation. Traditionally, it takes place annually, on the second Sunday of January - in 2016 it will be January 10th.
The largest public charity action takes place all over Poland. About 120 thousand volunteers collect money which is later squared in over 1700 bases, among which some are localized outside of Poland.
Everyone is welcome to a happening called "A Light to the Sky", which takes place at 8pm. We have already started to collect money for this beautiful show.
All day long, the Auction of the Most Generous Donors takes place in the television studio (it is commonly known as the auction of Golden Hearts). The climax, the auction of #1 Heart, begins about 11pm. We announce the estimated results of the collection after midnight.
During the Final, we carefully square our previous purchases and, most of all, clarify the aim of our current action. The television studio in Warsaw is visited by a lot of people that day, up to a few thousand. Even more people has fun at March Square, by the Palace of Culture and Science, where concerts take place, and the firework show becomes a historical event each and every time due to its beauty.
Artists who perform that day are requested not to take any money for their shows. We try to organize as many free artistic events, or ones that are connected with the organization of the Final, as possible.
During the previous 23 Finals, WOŚP collected and donated over 650 million PLN to support the Polish medicine.
Our base has already been registered. We have the certificate. So, please feel free to register - it's a good idea to volunteer! You may receive a questionnaire at school or print it yourself and bring it to us.
