Constitution of May 3
The adoption of the Constitution on May 3 was a very important event in the history of Poland. The situation of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth required reforms of the political system. Such a reform was undertaken by the then reigning king, Stanisław August Poniatowski. The result was a modern constitution for its time, the first in Europe.
What were the reasons for working on its adoption? Who influenced its content? What were the reactions of our neighbors and how long did the content of the constitution constitute law in Poland? We could hear about all this at the ceremony commemorating the adoption of the Constitution of May 3. In addition to historical news, we heard two soloists and a duet. Lena Lis from class 7a and Stanisław Majcherek from 0DP1 with Julia Fünfhausen from class 0DP2 appeared on stage.
The legacy of the Constitution is an important symbol of Poland's pursuit of independence and freedom. It is worth reminding the young generation of this.
