Every year, the final of our project "Deutsch-Land, or wandering around the Länder" was organized at the General Consulate of Germany in Wrocław. Due to the pandemic, we decided to organize an online finale this year. Thanks to the support of the Consulate, we were able to carry out the finale exactly as it always was, only virtually  :-)

The preparations lasted over a month, but thanks to the great cooperation of the organizers, the support of the General Consulate of Germany in Wrocław and the very good preparation of the participants, the FINALE ONLINE took place as planned, on May 25, 2020.

Four schools met in the finals: Jan Brzechwa Primary School from Godziszki with Mrs. Anna Mazurek, Complex of Primary Schools from Paniówki with Mrs. Joanna Malcherek, Urszulański School Complex in Rybnik with Mrs. Monika Liszka and Gwarków Tarnogórskich Primary School No. 15 from Tarnowskie Góry with Ms. Ewa Berger.

As usual, at the beginning of the meeting, the participants were greeted by the Consul General, Mr. Hans Jörg Neumann, this time virtually, but we were all very pleased that the Consul General personally greeted us!

Participants listened to presentations prepared on selected, previously mentioned topics: contemporary Berlin, monuments, cuisine, culture and personalities. After each presentation, students wrote a test of knowledge obtained from the station. All points were added up and taken into account for the final result.

Scenes were the next part of the final. This time not live... the participants had to prepare the scene and send it to the organizers a week before the planned finals. The title of the scene was very up-to-date:

"Two Poles virtually meet with a German. They talk about the positive and funny aspects of staying at home during a pandemic (free time, distance learning, family integration and virtual contact with peers) "

The committee consisting of the organizers of the competition and Ms. Dorota Kurpies, PhD from the Educational Society of Germans in Opole had a very difficult task, because all the scenes were prepared at a very high level!!!

The next point of the meeting was a virtual walk around the Consulate, which was prepared by the Consulate General of Germany in Wroclaw especially for us!!!! Thank you, this is a great honor for us!!!! Thanks to this walk, we could move to the Consulate for a moment and learn about the history of the building. Then, we also virtually visited Wrocław. Thanks to the kindness of the members of PSNJN Wrocław branch, we were able to show the participants of the competition a virtual walk around Wroclaw.

After all these virtual walks, there was a moment to thank and announce the results :-) To commence, the Consul General prepared special thanks and congratulations for us!!! It was a very touching moment for all organizers and participants when the Consul General himself contacted us. Every year, we have the opportunity to experience such nice moments at the Consulate and this year Mr. Consul made sure that we felt like at the consulate for a moment.

Thank you to all participants of the finale for their great preparation and commitment!!! Congratulations to the students from the School and Preschool Team from Paniówki for their victory!

First of all, thank you to Consul General Mr. Hans Jörg Neuman, and Ms. Joanna Mateusiak from the Department of Culture. We would also like to thank the management of the schools which co-organized our project and all the supporting institutions, and, above all, the Educational Society of Germans in Opole, Ms. Dorota Kurpies, PhD, for funding the prizes and her work in the competition committee.

See you in the new school year!!!
