Linguistic Virtuosos: High School Winners of the National German Language Olympiad
The Final of the 47th National German Language Olympiad took place on April 5 and 6. It was a real challenge for many participants. 74 students from all over Poland qualified for the final stage. Among them were also two talented high school students: Maria Magdalena Rostek from class I DP and Sarah Cannon from class 0 DP2.
The Examination Board and the Presidium of the Main Committee announced the results, indicating 21 winners and finalists. 5 places were awarded ex aequo, including one triple. Maria and Sarah were among the winners, taking 14th and 7th place, respectively.
The ceremonial ending of the final took place on Sunday, April 7, in the prestigious Lubrańskiego Hall of Collegium Minus of the Adam Mickiewicz University. It was there, in an atmosphere of solemn celebration, that both high school students were honored for their exceptional achievements in the field of German language.
But this is not the end of the benefits of the title of winner or finalist of this prestigious Olympiad. In accordance with the privileges granted to the winners and finalists, both students will receive an excellent grade in German at the end of the school year. Moreover, they are exempt from taking the secondary school leaving examination in this language. The secondary school leaving certificate will contain an annotation about the title of laureate or finalist, and instead of the high school leaving examination result it will be written "exempt".
This extraordinary event recognizes the effort and talent of our students and serves as an inspiration for the entire school community, encouraging the students to strive for excellence and develop language skills.
We congratulate Maria Magdalena Rostek and Sarah Cannon on their extraordinary success and wish them further achievements in their linguistic journey!
Huge thanks also go to the preparing teacher, Mr. Michał Jakubski, PhD. Hard work leads to beautiful results. Thank you!
